Rev. Dr. Rodney C. Walker, M.DIV. D.MIN
Rev. Dr. Rodney C. Walker is the Pastor of St. Matthew United Methodist Church, where he is guiding the Faith Community through an affordable housing redevelopment plan, which seeks to build a mixed-use eighteen-story affordable apartment complex, a worship facility, and a gospel café on its current site by the year 2020.
St. Matthew United Methodist Church ministries provide outreach services to the Near North neighborhood through their food pantry, a STEM tutoring program for elementary and high school students, the Women’s Homeless Outreach ministry, and other Christian Education ministries. The faith community also connects with local nonprofits, such as the Near North Unity Program, Employees and Employment Services, LLC., as well as other community based organizations in an effort to build relationships and collaborate to better serve the greater Near North neighborhood, while addressing local concerns.
Rev. Dr. Rodney C. Walker is also the Director of Juvenile Justice and Family Services for TASC (Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities), a statewide nonprofit serving the Illinois Criminal Court system. He also serves as a development consultant serving several non-profits in the Chicago region and is Co- Host of a bi-monthly radio show broadcasted on WYCA 102.3 FM Rejoice Radio, which airs on Saturday from 3:30pm – 4:00pm
Rev. Dr. Rodney C. Walker holds a B.A. in Political Science from Chicago State University, a Masters of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Christian Community Development.
